Sinaloa cuenta con una extensa variedad de actividades de las que usted puede disfrutar debido a que es un estado de interesantes contrastes. Podrá encontrar playa, sol, arena o cualquier otro elemento de contacto directo con la naturaleza, pero también es un estado con una presencia histórica muy fuerte: su legado cultural se puede notar en su arquitectura, una de los más importantes del país y por la que a lo largo de los años se han hecho grandes esfuerzos de restauración.
Varios de estos espacios y edificios tradicionales funcionan como galerías, talleres o escuelas de artes después de su restauración. El mejor ejemplo de ello es el centro histórico de Culiacán, cuyas construcciones respetan los estilos arquitectónicos con los que fueron concebidos.
Catedral de Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Culiacán
Su construcción comenzó en el año 1842, pero no fue hasta 1885 cuando se terminó la obra. Esta enorme estructura exhibe un estilo ecléctico, característicos del periodo neoclásico y barroco. Una estatua de San Miguel en la hermosa cresta del reloj corona la fachada principal. Esta Catedral, ubicada a un lado de la Plaza de Armas, es el monumento religioso más importante de la ciudad.
Centro Cultural Genaro Estrada
A mediados de los años 60, el Gobierno del Estado creó este centro para desarrollar actividades culturales como la danza, el cine y la literatura. Cuenta con un teatro colosal que presume de ser el más avanzado en cuanto a equipo técnico se refiere en todo México, el cual es usado por compañías teatrales, musicales y de danza de todo el país. Este centro también cuenta con una renombrada escuela de arte, una biblioteca impresionante, una sala donde se exhiben películas, una galería que incluye murales de Diego Rivera y un espacio para interpretaciones al aire libre.
Centro de Ciencias de Sinaloa
El Centro de Ciencias de Sinaloa, en Culiacán, le permite recorrer diversos caminos hacia el conocimiento científico y tecnológico. Le ofrece una aventura llena de sorpresas y encontrar respuestas a las preguntas más inquietantes. Sentirá la experiencia de ver, oír, tocar, experimentar, cuestionar y reflexionar, así como interactuar con la tecnología. Aquí podrá admirar el quinto meteorito más grande del mundo o aprender a decir la hora solar en un reloj ecuatorial, tomar un viaje imaginario por las estrellas en el planetario, o sorprenderse con un enorme esqueleto de ballena. Santuario de Guadalupe
La iglesia del Santuario de Guadalupe, en Culiacán, mejor conocida como “La Lomita”, fue construida en el siglo XIX, pero a mediados del XX tuvo un proceso de reconstrucción para llegar a convertirse en lo que es hoy. Su forma arquitectónica relacionada con los paraboloides hiperbólicos, son dos estructuras que parecen descender del cielo; el espacio interior se ve enriquecido con 5 extraordinarios vitrales con imágenes de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. Desde los barandales de la iglesia se puede ver la Ciudad de Culiacán, una imagen que permanece como postal en la memoria de los visitantes.
Museo de Arte de Sinaloa
Construido al comienzo del siglo XIX, originalmente esta estructura albergó al Palacio de Gobierno para luego ser el Departamento de Policía de Culiacán. Este edificio de estilo neoclásico fue restaurado en 1991 y se transformó en un notable museo artístico que exhibe obras de Diego Rivera, José Clemente Orozco, Atanasio Vargas, Gerardo Murillo “Dr. Atl”, Francisco Toledo y Rufino Tamayo entre otros.
Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa
El edificio central de la Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa fue construido en Culiacán a fines del siglo XIX y fue usado para albergar al Colegio Nacional Rosales, fundado en 1873. Se encuentra situado frente a la Plaza Rosales, opuesto al edificio de la Universidad Central y proporciona a la comunidad local talleres, salas de exposiciones y un magno auditorio.
Bahía de Topolobampo
Este importante puerto turístico-industrial se localiza en la bahía del mismo nombre, a 23 kilómetros de Los Mochis, en el Mar de Cortés o Golfo de California. Topo, como se le conoce familiarmente al puerto, tiene clubes de yates y es también el punto de partida en ferry hacia La Paz, Baja California. Topolobampo y sus alrededores son de los sitios preferidos para la pesca deportiva, ya que en sus inmediaciones habitan especies como el marlin y el dorado entre otros, lo que propicia la realización de reconocidos torneos de pesca. Aquí encontrará restaurantes que preparan verdaderas delicias con mariscos frescos que no puede dejar de probar.
El Chepe
El tren que recorre Los Mochis hasta la ciudad de Chihuahua es una de las maravillas de ingeniería del mundo, con 86 túneles y 37 puentes en una distancia de 653 kilómetros. Este mundialmente famoso ferrocarril “Chihuahua al Pacífico” lo llevará desde el nivel del mar en Los Mochis hasta una altura máxima de 2,600 metros antes de descender hasta la ciudad de Chihuahua a unos 800 metros de altitud. A través de la ventana del tren quedará maravillado con cascadas y paisajes increíbles de los enormes cañones. A lo largo del recorrido, usted puede visitar encantadores poblados rústicos con bellezas naturales, donde le deleitará el trato cálido y a la vez tímido de los indígenas Tarahumaras, habitantes nativos de la región del Cañón del Cobre.
